Forget which one, but one of Asimov's early Empire novels featured a journey to the Horsehead Nebula (thought in Empire days to have been named after its discoverer, Horace Hedd;

This picture was painted many years before the Hubble image 'The Pillars of Creation' was taken in 1995.
